Dr. Anna Stewart-Ibarra serves as Executive Director of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), an intergovernmental organization promoting science-based collaboration across 19 nations to understand and respond to global environmental change.
Previously Scientific Director of IAI, she continues to drive transdisciplinary science-powering the nexus of environment, climate, and human health to inform policy across Latin America and the Caribbean.
She holds a Ph.D. in Ecology from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and an MPA from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Public Administration. Her research has centered on climate-sensitive diseases (like dengue), social-ecological vulnerability, and health equity across Latin America and the Caribbean, using community-based epidemiological and modeling studies to advance real-world adaptation strategies.
